What we repair
Manufacturer authorized service for the full 4O3A Signature line
As the Manufacturer Authorized North American Service Center for 4O3A Signature, we repair their amplifiers, tuners, automation, switches, and filters to the manufacturer's own standards. Every evaluation is engineering-level: run on our automated, calibrated RF bench with AI-assisted analysis, and reviewed by an experienced RF engineer. Don't see your exact model? Ask us; if it's 4O3A, we service it.
Formula: ((parts + shipping) × 1.25) + tariffs. Every estimate itemizes parts and labor so you can see exactly where the money goes. The ham discount applies to hourly bench labor (not flat-rate repairs).
Counted straight from our ticket system, not an estimate. Inbound is units already in transit to us. Here, awaiting estimate is units on our shelf that haven't been quoted yet. Units waiting on a part aren't waiting on the bench - so a queue that looks long may move faster than it reads. If timing matters for your season, ask us before you ship.
You always see the parts math
We don't hide markups or pad invoices. Parts are billed on a single published formula, tariffs pass through at cost, and labor is a clear bench rate - $150/hr, with $25/hr off for licensed hams ($125/hr). Estimates are itemized and require your approval before we proceed.
Shipping & packing
When we accept your ticket we email your RMA number along with these instructions. Please don't ship anything until you have that number - it's how we match your unit to your ticket the moment it arrives.
- Use the original container. It's built to protect the unit in transit. Don't have it anymore? Ask us - if it's in stock we'll ship you a replacement carton for a modest fee.
- Leave the accessories at home. Unless we specifically ask for them, don't include power cords, cables, or manuals - just the unit itself.
- Include your RMA traveler in the box. Fill out the return address and the other required fields, print it, and place it inside the box with the unit.
- Mark the box with your RMA number. Write it clearly on the outside of the carton.
When your unit reaches the "ready to ship" step in the portal, we generate a printable RMA slip and device-specific packing detail for you - these instructions are the short version to keep handy.
Lightning damage assessment
Took a direct strike or a nearby hit? We assess and document the damage for you and your insurer - but, by policy, we do not repair lightning-damaged units. Here's what we do, and why.
Lightning Damage Assessment
We inspect and test the unit, document the extent of lightning and surge damage with detailed findings and photos, and deliver a written assessment report. We routinely supply these assessments directly to insurance carriers to support claims, and the report gives you a clear basis for a repair-vs-replace decision.
Why we don't repair lightning-damaged units
A strike or nearby hit can drive enormous transient voltages and currents through a unit. The damage is often pervasive, latent, and impossible to fully detect on the bench:
- Semiconductor junctions degraded just enough to test OK now but fail later.
- Stressed solder joints and PCB carbonization that creates hidden paths.
- Compromised dielectric in capacitors and transformers. Damaged relay coils and contacts.
Because we can't reliably find every fault a strike leaves behind, we can't warranty a lightning repair - and a unit that fails again under full power can damage other elements of your station and become a safety hazard. So we document the damage, support your insurance claim, and advise on replacement, rather than perform a repair we can't stand behind.

4O3A product page ↗Calibration & blueprinting
Two measurement-driven services for operators who want their gear verified to spec - or fully characterized on paper.
Calibration Service
We verify and bring your unit's key parameters back to the manufacturer's specification - power output, gain, bias, tuning, and filter response - using calibrated RF test equipment. You receive a calibration record listing the measured values and the spec they were set to. Ideal after a repair, before a contest, or as periodic maintenance on a high-value station.
Blueprint Service
A full measurement characterization - a "blueprint" - of your specific unit. We sweep and document its actual RF performance (insertion loss, return loss / VSWR, rejection, gain, power, and more, depending on the device) and deliver a measurement report with the real data. It's both a verification of true performance and a baseline "fingerprint" you can compare against years later to catch drift or damage.
General RF repair
4O3A service is our focus, but the same bench and test equipment handle other gear too.
- HF amplifier repair - solid-state and tube linears: no/low output, blown finals, bias, ALC, and protection faults.
- Tuners, power supplies & alignment - brought back to spec with before/after readings.
What we don't take on: we do not repair transceivers or radios. Amplifiers, tuners, switches, and filters are what this bench is set up and calibrated for, and we would rather point you somewhere better than take on work we can't do to the same standard.
Whatever we repair, your ticket moves through clear stages with an email at each milestone:
